CHC's investigation.

As you have seen or heard from the news, that our City Harvest Church is undergoing an investigation by the relevant authorities. There are some misunderstandings and quick judgements that people have made which I would like to clarify.

1) Several complaints by unknown individuals are the CAUSE which started this investigation. Complaints have been made unto CHC about the misuse of Church funds. And is NOT BECAUSE of suspicion or from any evidence.

2) Not only our senior Pastor Kong Hee was called for investigations, 16 others were called too. Those included pastoral staffs, church members, and other companies related to the Church.

3) Further judgements MUST NOT be made prematurely. The 17 people undergoing investigations are innocent until the truth comes to light.

4) Should there be the need of the Church accounting the use of funds, it should be done only to its members and not to the public. This is because, donations and tithes are collected from ITS MEMBERS and not the public.

What I feel about this controversy? (In a neutral point of view)

Well CHC is not new to controversy as they have made the headlines over the years. Suprisingly, majority of the negative comments do not come from non-christians but christians themselves. Comments are made on the way the church collect funds.

First thing I would want to say is that as citizens of Singaporeans, we pledged to live in religious and racial harmony. This means that we should respect and not condemn each other's religious practices.

Well, the way CHC collect funds and tithes are based on their religious book (The Bible). This can be said as a religious practice. Negative comments about this practice is as good as condemning and not respecting.

And also as mentioned earlier, NO further judgements should be made until the truth comes to light!

What I feel as a member.

As a member, people might say everything they want. They might even judge my Pastor's character. But for me, Im a great indebtor to the Pastoral staffs at CHC. Without them what I am not what I am today.

Also, people should not judge and condemn on how we collect tithes and offerings. First thing I would want to say is as a member of the Church for 2 years, I was NEVER FORCED TO GIVE OR PRESSURED TO GIVE. ALL DONATIONS MADE BY ME ARE OF FREEWILL. That is why people should never say Pastor Kong "forced us or pressure us to give".

Secondly, giving is a biblical principle. This is what the Bible teaches. This is where God tests your heart. What could be more precious to you other than money? God is looking at your obedience and your willingness to put God first and not the amount!

Thirdly, as you have seen from certain tabloids or videos such as Razor tv. There is one part where they show pastor speaking on giving. This is partly bias as the media only took a few seconds of entire teaching. From here, you would definitely see or judge that Pastor kong is pressurising or in someway forcing its members to give. But if you would to sit through the entire sermon, you would find that this is not the case.

Finally I would like to conclude that I would of course support my Pastor! Go Pastor Kong will be praying for you!
